WHAT IS OMAGH SENIORS CENTRE?

Omagh Seniors Centre (OSC) is a not-for-profit community service organization that is serving seniors in Halton and its surrounding regions since 2020.

WHY IS IT CALLED “OMAGH”?

OSC takes its name from Omagh Village – a historically significant village from the early 19th century that is “the only village in Milton from the former Trafalgar Township that retains its former village character”, continues to preserve its rich heritage, as well as gives us a glimpse of life in the past.

WHAT IS THE NEED OF A SENIORS CENTRE?

According to Statistics Canada, nearly one-fifth of all Canadians identify as seniors. Like other age groups, they have many growing challenges that prevent them from living, working, and succeeding in the economy and society and so these need be addressed by organizations that voice their concerns.

WHAT DOES OSC DO FOR SENIORS?

OSC works to provide solutions to problems seniors face through activities, events, and programs focused on senior engagement, enrichment, interaction, safety, success, and well-being, enabling them to understand the modern world, to adjust and fit in, and to connect and contribute in meaningful ways.
